Amatriciana

Amatriciana

Favorite from Rome

Amatriciana is a dish that comes from Amatrice – a small town located in the Apennines just north of Rome. In other words, this is the dish you should eat when you come to Rome. It is tasty and will quickly become a favorite!

Here is Via Italia's own recipe that you can try at home. All the ingredients can of course be found in their store.

Ingredients

(4 persons)

200-250g pancetta
3 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon thyme
340 g tomato sauce with chili
500g bucatini
salt
pepper
Parmesan
fresh basil

Approach

Find a cutting board and cut the pancetta into small cubes. Place these in the frying pan and turn on the heat. Let them fry until they start to "lose" their fat before adding olive oil. Fry the pancetta until they are crispy. Add the tomato sauce and season with sugar and thyme before letting the sauce cook for about 10 minutes. Season with salt, pepper and chopped herbs.

Cook the pasta al dente according to the package instructions. Serve the pasta topped with parmesan and a few basil leaves.

ENJOY!
