AMOI becomes Mathallen's new online store

Mathallen is relaunching AMOI in a new, exclusive version. Customers in Oslo and the surrounding area can now have quality products from the food market at Vulkan delivered directly to their door.

In the summer of 2020, AMOI was established with Posten as the owner. National distribution of food products from independent stores was a success during the pandemic, but operations eventually became too extensive. AMOI was recently closed down as part of Posten's savings.

Now the service is reborn in a simplified version, exclusive to the stores in Mathallen at Vulkan. The owners of the new AMOI are Mathallen, together with four of the food market's tenants: Annis, Vulkanfisk, Galopin and The Cupcake & Pie Co. They are taking over the company, technology and customers from AMOI, but no employees.

– The stores in Mathallen will operate this as their own online store, but under a common umbrella. People will be able to order home delivery a little later in the day, and directly from the store the same day, which we believe makes the offer relevant and attractive, says Frode Rønne Malmo, general manager of Mathallen and concept manager for city floors at Aspelin Ramm.

Quality, easily accessible

Mathallen looks back on a record year in 2024, with 211 million kroner in turnover and over 1,2 million visitors. Many travel far to shop for quality goods, from Bærum, Romerike, Ski and Follo. With the new online store, those living outside the city center have a shorter way to fresh fish, meat, desserts and delicacies from Mathallen's many niche shops throughout the week.

– We have many regular customers who come here, and many of the same customers already shop online with AMOI. In a busy everyday life, the threshold for shopping for quality food is lower when you can have it delivered to your home, says Øyvind Glørstad at Vulkanfisk.

– It is important to reach customers in Oslo and the surrounding area, not just those who live nearby. In this way, AMOI has worked very well for us independent, small shops, which is why we want to continue the offer, says Arthur Alix at Galopin.

Home delivery five days a week

The stores at Mathallen will operate the new online service themselves, pack the goods and follow up with customers. AMOI Mathallen only includes raw materials, not takeaway. Bring is a partner, and provides home delivery from Tuesdays to Saturdays, with one to two deliveries daily.

– It is important for us to have an online offering, and we have good experience with AMOI from both the customer side and from us suppliers. We will start with the stores at Mathallen initially, but do not rule out that more players may join over time, says Daniel Slakter at Annis Pølsemakeri.
