Breddos Tacos named Kitchen of the Year
Food price highlights and honors farmers, chefs and people who care about sustainable meals and this year the Food Award is being held for the eighth time. The winners for 2021 are divided into seven different award categories: Food Award, Kitchen of the Year, Commercial Kitchen of the Year, Producer of the Year, Mediator of the Year, Children and Youth Award, and the Debio Award.
We at Mathallen are very proud that "our own" Breddos Tacos was named Kitchen of the Year. The jury's reasoning is as follows:
This year's kitchen is not afraid of long detours and demanding processes to reach its goal: tasty, exciting and sustainable meals, served with low shoulders. The winner goes to great lengths to preserve old cooking traditions, and carefully selects the best ingredients, preferably from local producers, and with uncompromising demands for animal welfare. An important part of the kitchen's philosophy is to use finely tuned techniques to prepare less noble cuts, so that the whole animal is used, and the menu also has a significant element of fully vegetarian options.
The winner of the 2021 Kitchen of the Year has gone against the grain in several ways. The restaurant was opened when no one thought it would be possible, namely in the middle of the corona pandemic, and was an immediate success. And not least, the winner has made an important contribution to Norwegian food culture with a new way of thinking about quality, tradition and sustainability in quick lunch and take-away food. This year's winner is Nud Duhdia and BREDDOS TACOS!
