Why reusable packaging?
Reduce waste
Last year Mathallen had record attendance, which is absolutely fantastic! What we are not so happy about is that this generates a lot of waste that has to be transported to incineration. Unfortunately, some of this waste is also thrown into the river, the parks and the neighborhood around us, and we don't want that!
By introducing reusable packaging, we hope to reduce waste and increase recycling rates. We believe this is the way forward for a more sustainable future, and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to contribute.
Advantages of the packaging
- Improved food quality: Food keeps better in reusable packaging.
- Durable and safe: The packaging is designed to withstand transportation without leakage.
- Environmentally friendly: Reduces waste volumes that would otherwise be incinerated and contribute to greenhouse gas emissions.
- Recyclable: Traditional disposable packaging, such as soiled cardboard, cannot be recycled effectively and ends up as residual waste.
Available dining options
During the test period, which starts on July 3, the offer of reusable packaging will be available at three of our dining venues in Mathallen: Via Italia, Simply Tasty og Volcano FishWe hope to expand the offer to more restaurants based on the test results.
How does it work?
- Ask for a reusable bowl:
When ordering food at a restaurant, ask for a reusable bowl. - Cover the card:
Cover your credit card – no app or deposit required! - Eat and enjoy:
Enjoy your food as usual. - Return the box:
Return the bowl in the return box within 7 days at no extra cost.
Where can I return my takeaway packaging?
Reusable packaging can be returned in the machine located at Torget in Mathallen (1st floor).
Does it cost anything extra?
It is free to borrow the reusable packaging as long as it is returned within 7 days. In case of late or non-delivery, a cost of 40 kroner will be incurred, and the box will be yours.
