Mathallen 10 years: Hong's Bao Bao
October 2022 marks 10 years since Oslo got its very first food hall. On Vulkan, an old industrial area right by the Akerselva River in Løkka, Mathallen Oslo was to become a cornerstone in the development of a completely new city within the city. Now, 10 years later, Mathallen Oslo has become a shopping center, meeting place, workplace and tourist attraction for thousands of people.
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary, we have had a chat with some of these people, more specifically a small selection of our beautiful birthday children.

What is your Mathallen favorite?
Favorite food is of course DimSum, but my favorite shops are The Cupcake & pie Co. and Via Italy.
What dish have you sold the most of over the years?
Fried dumpling!
Why Mathallen?
We think our concept fits well in Mathallen, and it seemed like a very pleasant place to work. Which turns out to be true. Mathallen is a great place to work. There are knowledgeable people here who offer great food from different countries. And they are not only knowledgeable, they are also very nice and friendly.
In addition, we have very nice customers who are good at giving us good feedback, both when it comes to food and service.
You experience quite a bit in 10 years. Are there any memories that stand out?
We have now been in Mathallen for over four years, and we have customers who visited us then who are returning now. Many have brought their children, who we have watched grow up over the past four years. Several visit us every week - some of the children love dumplings, others prefer bao. Getting to know people that way is very nice, especially when the little ones leave a drawing after their visit.
We congratulate Mathallen on its birthday, and wish that Mathallen will continue to exist for many years to come.
