Mathallen 10 years: Simply Tasty
October 2022 marks 10 years since Oslo got its very first food hall. On Vulkan, an old industrial area right by the Akerselva River in Løkka, Mathallen Oslo was to become a cornerstone in the development of a completely new city within the city. Now, 10 years later, Mathallen Oslo has become a shopping center, meeting place, workplace and tourist attraction for thousands of people.
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary, we have had a chat with some of these people, more specifically a small selection of our beautiful birthday children.

What dish have you sold the most of over the years?
There have been many different ones, but we have probably sold the most of our "chicken roll", which used to be my lunch box when I was in elementary school.
What is your Mathallen favorite?
Absolute Mathallen favorite is The Cupcake & Pie Co..
Why Mathallen?
Mathallen was the only place where we could show the public what food made with love tasted like. So our concept was a perfect fit as a family project where my wife and I have worked full-time from day one, while our daughters have stepped in and been a great help through two hard years of Covid.
We really enjoy Mathallen, with all these knowledgeable people around us offering delicious food from all over the world. We also want to say a big thank you to all the great feedback from our customers - it motivates us.
You experience quite a bit in 10 years. Are there any memories that stand out?
There have been many funny experiences these past few years, and a lot of arguing with my wife ;) - where I always was, still am and always will be wrong in the end. The funniest thing was when I learned how to make naan bread for the first time in my life, guess who I learned it from... my wife! We have a lot of fun at work every day.
