Mathallen on the podium!
We are proud and happy to have been among the top three when Europe's best food halls were named.
Cushman & Wakefield has launched a big report Among Europe's large selection of food halls and in competition with over 100 other food halls, Mathallen Oslo ended up in a solid third place.

About Mathallen Oslo it is said:
Open six days a week from mid-morning until early evening, Mathallen offers high-quality products from Norwegian small-scale producers as well as special foreign imports. Shops selling fresh local produce are mixed with eateries, which are the real draw here.
The basement bar and restaurant Smelteverket with views of the Akerselva river is home to Scandinavia's longest bar (27 m, apparently!). Upstairs it's possible to sample seafood at the Vulkanfisk Seafoodbar, southeast Asian specialties at Atelier Asian Tapas or global street food and drinks at Hitchhiker, among others.
The 4,400 sq m building has a total of 10 restaurants, plus 18 shops, and has been converted from a century-old factory that used to produce railway tracks in a cool and emerging part of the city. The industrial heritage of the building is a theme repeated in many of the bars and restaurants inside. Mathallen is situated on Vulkan 5 in the Vulkan district, a former industrial area on the northern periphery of Oslo's city centre, a 15-minute walk from the city's railway station.
The redevelopment of the Mathallen building, which opened in 2012, was led by Norwegian developer Aspelin Ramm. It has been involved in several major urban regeneration projects across the country, including Oslo's newest art gallery, designed by the architect of London's Shard, Renzo Piano. Mathallen was used as an anchor for the wider regeneration of the area and is now a must-see venue on the Oslo map.
